The perfect 18th century hideaway, yet minutes away from everything!
Recharge your spirit while lounging in the stone chapel.
This is our magical
home, not a business, and if you have castle fantasies -- you will love it! We
call it shabby chic, the furniture is comfortable and eclectic, the garden is
sublime.
Originally constructed in 1737, as an Oratorio (church), it was
converted into an enchanting home in the 1970's, built mostly of stone with
hand-carved cantera (local stone) arches, door and window surrounds and
imaginative iron work.
A small, unheated pool surrounded by a lush courtyard
stands at its heart. It has two bedrooms (one king-size, one queen-size), a TV
room (with two single beds), 2 1/2 baths, and an upstairs terrace with a view
overlooking the city and mountains beyond.
The house is situated on a narrow,
steep, cobblestone street in "centro", easily accessible via bus and taxi and
a short 5 to 7 minute walk to the center of town. It is artist
owned and art filled.
Our housekeeper is a delight and a wonderful Mexican cook. We have purified
water throughout the entire house, daily maid service (except Sundays), a
gardener, three fireplaces, phone/fax, cable TV, VCR, CD system, bedrooms all
have ceiling fans, full kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, cooking utensils
provided, linen provided, washer and dryer, private pool, small garage and an
upper sala.
We have a massage table and a great masseuse who comes to the house
(US $30/hr). We have an extensive metaphysical library. Well behaved pets
allowed.
