Q: How is the Health Care / Dental Care in San Miguel Allende?

A: In general, health care is very good here. There is a general hospital called "Hospital de la Fe" that has a large staff of qualified doctors - many of whom are US certified and speak English. There are also a number of Doctors and Dentists who have private offices and charge reasonable rates (around US $20 for a doctor's visit and about $30 for a dentist). Pharmacies generally stock most prescription medicines and over the counter medications that one might find in the US - and usually the prices are very reasonable.

Q: We have school age children - what is the educational system like in Mexico?

A: San Miguel Allende is lucky to have a number of bilingual schools that cater to the needs of the foreign and bi-cultural community of San Miguel. There is a Montessori school and a Waldorf School. For older children, a school using the Texas High School Equivalency Correspondence course program supplemented by qualified local instructors.
