Tony Cohan is the author of the novels Canary, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, and Opium, a Literary Guild Selection. Among his non-fiction work, is On Mexican Time: A New Life in San Miguel, the seminal memoir of life in Mexico and San Miguel de Allende. His latest work, Native State, A Memoir was released in September 2003.

Tony has also written the introductions for the books on Mexico written by his wife, Masako Takahashi, among them: Mexican Textiles, Mexicolor and Mexican Tiles.

His essays, travel writings, and reviews have appeared in many books, magazines and newspapers, including the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. His work as a lyricist with Chick Corea and others can be heard on a number of albums. He divides his time between Venice, California and Mexico.
